I decided to make the most of it by taking the boys to the allotment and putting them both to work.
We emptied the 2 compost bins, dismantled them and resited them at the other side of the plot. Dug potato trenches, put in ash and fresh compost then planted the potatoes.
It took the 3 of us all day but we didn't mind as it was such a lovely day.
K was very fascinated by these little guys. We found 2 whilst digging in the new compost bins
What lovely boys, helping you like that. Wasn't today gorgeous. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will have some fine weather for your caravan holiday too.

They were so helpful, I bought them an ice cream each as a thankyou once we finished.
DeleteWe have everything crossed for some weather like we have had today :-)
Erm - that is a Slow Worm - a young one. Be very careful how you dig!
ReplyDeleteAnd how wonderful to find them in your compost :-) You are very blessed :-)
DeleteSorry - my post got cut into two!
Compostwoman, yes I wad amazed to find them they were in the ground where I wasmoving the compost bin to, I was digging a little trench to put the pallet into so that it stays upright. I dug very carefully after finding the first one as I didn't want to harm any. K tells me this one is a boy due to the colouring. I've only ever seen adult ones before the babies were so sweet
DeleteI love Slow Worms and yes they love hiding in Compost heaps for the warmth :-) You are very lucky to have seen them :-) And good that the children know to take care - well done with your educating them :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish everyone was as careful and considerate as you and your family
