happy Easter

I have been quite the past week as had so much going on; Stephanie has been ill with an ear infection, usual end of term madness at work, and family visiting.

So very busy but still managing a little crafting- I have almost finished the knitting I've been working on that should be complete in the next couple of days. This evening I have been teaching my sister to crochet she is making a granny blanket for my niece.

This eve we decided to splash out and treat ourselves to a takeaway Indian for dinner, we saved 10% as I collected the order on the way to feed a friends cat, but I must say I was disappointed I will cook myself next time. I thought it would be a really special/tasty curry hut it wasn't at all. Nevermind!

earth hour

Well in my house earth 2 hours lol. I got confused and switched off at 8pm and I'm quite enjoying the simplicity so am going to carry on until 10 pm when I go to bed. I'm quite impressed that I can manage to knit by candlelight

playing house!

Today I have spent the day sorting in the house, with the exception of a brief trip out to collect Dylan and Stephanie from their Dad's. Aside from paperwork for work and cleaning the house top to bottom I have been doing this;

Yummy vanilla cupcakes made using the Ultimate cupcake recipe from pure vanilla, a book I won in a give away over on Hannah's blog a while back. They are very tasty and super light! I love them, the book is in American measures so once I had converted them I was good to go.

I have also strained and bottle my damson vodka I made last year, o course whilst doing this I had to have a little taste- it's delicious. Now I need to leave it alone for several more months to enjoy at its best! I am a little upset as I broke my pretty vodka bottle I have been saving especially for this vodka.

Now I have a question for those of you who make fruit alcohols, once strained do you use the fruits to make anything else? It seems a shame to waste what look like perfectly good (although alcoholic I know!) little berries now that I have removed them from their liquid home.

My mother's day

I had a lovely surprise to begin my mother's day. OK so it wasn't a huge surprise but it was lovely. I was told I needed not to get up when I woke up as Dylan and Stephanie had a something they wanted to do for me, they were going to creep down the stairs then come back up to me. Stephanie was so excited by what they had planned I was given this information last week.
This is why I wasn't allowed downstairs;

A very tasty breakfast in bed of egg, sausage and tomato sandwich in BED!
Once we had all eaten and dressed we took some flowers to my Mum's grave and then we went for a walk.

We all spent a little while wondering what these walls belonged to originally.

We admired the views and watched lots of rabbits bouncing around.

It was a lovely day I really enjoyed relaxing- I avoided doing work all day and just did some sewing an a little planting with Stephanie as she wanted to plant her fairy garden.

BLISS!

Presents

I have spent today making gifts for 3 of Stephanie's friends as they have parties coming up. I want to try and make more gifts this year. I have not purchased anything to make these gifts.  I have use an old and holey pair of my jeans for the main, then I used 2 tops and some material I had left over making a dress for Stephanie last year.

This is one of the tops and the pair of jeans.

All cut out ready to sew.

3 bags ready for wrapping. Stephanie has chosen the colours for her friends and the embellishments. I am really pleased how they have come out. I have one more gift to make, this one for a boy so I am thinking about a pencil case. I have plenty more old clothes etc to re-purpose.
I just need to embellish the pink one, as Stephanie is in bed it will have to wait until tomorrow so that she can choose from the stash what she would like on it.

friday night fun

Stephanie and I decided to have some girly fun tonight. So what did his cost? The price of 1 blackening banana, a spoon of honey and handful of rolled oats, 4 slices of cucumber and a disused drawer filled with warm water and bath oil.

Finished off with a coat of nail varnish. Relaxing, frugal fun. Now i must gety little lady off tobed.

A finished project

This evening I finished this

Stephanie is made up with it and has gone up to bed with it already!

So far I have managed 2 no spend days this month Yayy!

I now need to decide what my next project is. Stephanie has a friends birthday party in a couple of weekends I am loving the idea of making her a present using things we already have in the house. I need to decide what- any ideas?? It will be for a 7 year old girl.

Friday 1 March 2013

Tonight i popped to see my sister. she is letting me borrow this. I am all about looking after what we have to make it last longer, so this weekend i will be cleaning all of my carpets. I have just done the rug in the living room, it looks much better. I am fascinated and disgusted in equal measures at the muck that came off the rugs!
What are you doing this weekend to look after what you  already have?
